Marshall's is full of discount surprises. The store is usually well-organized (and even better now that the shoe department has been reconfigured). Marshall's has a good stock of home goods, name-brand clothes (like Roxy and Calvin Klein) and shoes. You can also find some discounted high-end hair and skin products.

T.J.Maxx is synonymous with discount shopping. The store, while not always the best organized, is a great place to treasure hunt for that certain something. Stocked with brand-name clothes, home items, baby and child clothing and toys, menswear and some foodstuffs, expect to spend a fair amount of time combing the racks.

Chicago, IL
60601
(312) 705-3810 http://www.loehmanns.com Hours: open daily
A tad pricier than some of the other discount stores, Loehmann's is a wonderland for those looking for designer discount. You'll find everything from evening wear to outerwear. The designers and merchandise (like most discount stores) are constantly changing, so it's a good idea to check back frequently.

Chicago, IL
60640
(312) 880-0245 http://www.dswshoes.com Hours: open daily

Chicago, IL
60647
(773) 252-0594 http://www.gap.com Hours: open daily
This is the place to go for discount Gap apparel. You may even see some things you never saw in a regular Gap store. It's an especially great place to go for tanks, T-shirts and jeans. Gap accessories are also on display. The store itself is clean and well-organized with plenty of dressing rooms.

Chicago, IL

You'll find clothes for every occasion, but Fox's is a great place to visit when you've got somewhere special to attend. Keep an eye out for great accessories like purses.
Filene's Basement
830 N. Michigan Ave.
Chicago, IL
60611
(312) 482-8918 http://www.filenesbasement.com Hours: open daily
This is one of those discount stores you see people trying to hide bargains from one another. In fact, they even have a special event called the “Running of the Brides," where discounted designer gowns are brought in for the day and women fight like wild animals to find the perfect one. But can you blame people for going a little crazy? With brands like Marc Jacobs and Micheal Kors, people will tend to get a little greedy.
Mark Shale Outlet
2593 N. Elston Ave.
Chicago, IL
60647
(773) 772-9600 http://www.markshale.com Hours: open daily
It’s all a waiting game at the Mark Shale Outlet, as most of their sales are the previous season’s leftovers from the regular Mark Shale store. This store is a little more on the sophisticated side, so it's not the place to find "hip" fashions. However, it might be one of the few discount stores where the men's side has a better selection than the ladies.
